With the fullest of hearts I would like to thank our incredible friends and partners at Bumble, the women-first social network with over 65 million users worldwide, for joining us in supporting local women entrepreneurs in our hometown of Detroit!
From the beginning of our journey, Katy, Sophia and I were passionate about Detroit Blows not only being an inclusive space for women seeking non-toxic beauty services at a fair and equitable price point, but about channeling our relationships and resources in ways that directly enriched local communities. We wanted to build a model of social enterprise, with reinvestment in women and girls at its core.
After receiving nearly 100 applications in our inaugural grant competition, the team at Bumble Bizz helped us narrow the pool to 4 finalists, all of whom pitched for a chance to win $10,000. One by one, as each organization presented, we became even more inspired and connected to their stories.
With the gracious support of our partnership, we ended up granting all 4 of the finalists — awarding $20,000 in total!
It was our sincere privilege to support the winner, Birth Detroit with the $10,000 grant, and surprise the three runners-up with additional grants of $5,000 and $2,500 to put towards the growth of their businesses.
Please help us as we continue to support our four finalists!
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported this initiative.
When Detroit Blows, Detroit Grows.
